Dr. Shapera brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our practice, making him a valuable asset to our team. His extensive training in weight loss and foregut surgery, as well as his specialization in minimally invasive hepatopancreatobiliary and surgical oncology, allows him to provide exceptional care to our patients. Additionally, his completion of a Bariatric Fellowship at the University of Missouri, Columbia and training at Advent Health Tampa for Robotic Surgical Oncology further solidify his qualifications. One notable aspect of Dr. Shapera’s career is his dedication to research and education. He has demonstrated his commitment to advancing surgical knowledge and techniques through the production and publication of multiple surgical videos and papers. His involvement in various prestigious surgical conferences, including the Americas Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (AHPBA), the European-African Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (E-AHPBA), the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), and more, showcases his recognition within the surgical community as a leading expert. Furthermore, Dr. Shapera’s fluency in Aramaic is an additional asset to our practice, as it allows for effective communication and understanding with patients who are more comfortable speaking in this language. Education & Experience

Sandra Hlavac is a highly experienced and skilled staff nurse and Family Nurse Practitioner. Hlavac joined Trinity in late 2023 and is a wealth of knowledge for both our staff and patients. Prior to becoming a Nurse Practitioner, Hlavac was employed by Temecula Valley Day Surgery in Murrieta, CA from January 2023. She specialized in operating room/circulating nursing and has previously worked as a staff nurse/circulator at Temecula Valley Hospital in Temecula, CA from April 2022 to December 2022. Sandra also served as the Center Leader at Parkway Endoscopy Center in Escondido, CA from December 2011 to April 2022, where she successfully managed a busy outpatient endoscopy center, increased profit year after year, and supervised a team of 25 staff members, 4 physician partners, and 10 CRNAs. Prior to that, she worked as a staff nurse at Endoscopy Center of the Inland Empire in Murrieta, CA from December 2006 to December 2011, where she specialized in administering conscious sedation for endoscopy procedures, handling pre-operative admission intake, recovery of post-sedation procedures, and providing patient education through pre- and post-phone calls.
